On the 25th May, 2018 the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into effect which regulates what personal information can be collected, how it is stored and used. We have all been subject to unwanted emails, phonecalls, text messages and worse due to companies and individuals using our personal data so this will, hopefully, greatly reduce this annoyance to our personal life.
Here is the Bod Gwynedd we have strict policies related to the storage and use of our guests data and thus welcome the opportunity to update and inform our guests how we are taking, storing and using your personal information.
What Personal Data we we collect?
When you book a room via our website or one of the Online Travel Agents (OTA) we use to facilitate your request, your full name along with your home address, email and contact number(s) will be taken and stored on an encrypted database provided by the services of Queensborough Group, 14 Bury New Road, Breightmet, Bolton, BL2 6QB. Similar data may be taken and held via the Online Agent you choose and for this you will have to check their compliance with the new regulation.
In addition to your personal details, your method of payment will be taken to reserve your room(s). Your card details will be validated, then encrypted and held in a secure database by Stripe Payments (UK) Ltd , 9th Floor, 107 Cheapside, London, EC2V 6D. In line with our booking policy full payment will be taken 2 weeks prior to the date arrival unless you have booked a non-refundable rate in which case payment will be taken 4 hours after booking. Your card details are stored for 1 week after departure incase of omission of damage or loss to our property during your stay.
How we use your Personal Data
Email addresses provided are used to contact the guest prior to arrival to confirm the date of and time of arrival, if any dietary requirements are needed, to suggest places to visit and eat and to make guest aware of our Terms and Conditions.
Mobile numbers maybe used to contact guests on or prior to the Date of Arrival to warn them of potential travel issues or enquire about the journey and arrival time.
We will not sell, distribute, lease or release your personal information to third parties unless we have your permission or are required by law to do so.
We typically use social media to inform our past guests of any special offers or events in the area however request your permission (at the time of checking in) to send you the occasional newsletter or marketing email or just wish you a Nadolig Llawen (Merry Christmas). If you do not wish to receive these emails you can deny our request to stay in touch.
