Privacy Policy


The River Hotel limited follow security protocols to ensure the security and confidentiality of any personal information you may chose to offer us. We are a small hotel and will not use your information beyond the expected channels to hold and maintain your custom and in accordance with the Data Protection Regulation.


We receive and store electronically any information you enter on our website or give us in any other way. This includes information that can identify you 'personally', including your first and last name, telephone number, postal and email addresses. If you make a transaction via our secure online booking site it will also include payment card information (such as credit card number, cardholder name, and expiration date) which is stored on secure servers.


We will also request the names of other people travelling with you in accordance with the Immigration (Hotel Records) Order 1972 and Thames Valley Police 'Hotel Watch' policy. To comply with the Immigration (Hotel Records) Order 1972 we must also record for all who are not British, Irish or Commonwealth guests your passport details and details of next destination which is held on paper record for at least 12 months.


The River Hotel monitors all incoming phone calls and we may log the phone number. Calls to or from our hotel front desk are monitored and we may request from you personal information other than your phone number. Any personal information obtained from you during the call will be treated in accordance with the provisions of this Privacy Policy.


For the security of customers and staff, the River Hotel records CCTV in public areas, including the car park, hotel entrances and reception lobby. Digital footage is stored electronically for up to three months. These recordings are not generally available for playback and are exempt from redaction requests.


We may obtain both personal and non-personal information about you from third-party booking sources, although any information collected by third party websites will come under their own privacy policy.


Any personal information is stored on a secure server and deleted after an appropriate time. You may at any time request a copy of details we hold about you, or request for your personal details be removed from our electronic storage. However in accordance with the Immigration (Hotel Records) Order 1972 a paper record of your registration made at the time of your stay shall be stored for at least 12 months.


We will share your supplied information with data processors that perform services on our behalf. For example, we share information with our booking agent and website host, Queensborough Group, or other vendors including Review Express who send emails and other communications on our behalf and these communications will only relate to the specific booking you have made at our hotel. We may share personal information by proper and fair request with law enforcement.


We may update this Privacy Policy in the future. We will notify you about material changes to this Privacy Policy by issuing a clear notice on our website.
